Underwater is a way of capturing the flowers and lights in the water. It is the experience, through nature, of a totally constructed private world in which the raw material, the fragile and bucolic nature, is touched and transformed into an entity with life and with its own meaning.
Water and light are the elements that transform reality an the timeless beauty of a plant or a flower. The artist chooses the elements, the composition and uses light to create relationships, distortions, transparencies and brighten the shapes. Light reflects off the water and passes through petals, leaves, stems and corollas that do not remain a still life expression, but continually revive and transform.
In the work construction, in an incessant process of transformation of the object, the water line represents the sign that gives harmony and stability to the composition, establishing the limit of fragility, metaphorically representing the biosphere which is exactly a fine line between organic and inorganic. The black background defines the binary model: life against nothing, negative color / space against the explosion of variable genetic traits and nuances in the electromagnetic spectrum.
The photographer’s gaze changes what is “ordinary” into something extremely subtle and intimate.
